- Participants will gain basic knowledge of copyright questions from the perspective of publishing scholars. The seminar will take a closer look on Open Access, in particular compared to “traditional” publishing with publishers like Elsevier or Springer. We provide a short introduction to bibliometrics and discuss the use of publication and citation analysis to evaluate scientific activity. We inform on bibliometric methods and their application to publishing in open access journals. In addition, we will discuss the scientific prestige and impact factors of open access journals. The SLUB Dresden offers different services to support scholars in their publishing process.
