- Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are emerging as novel treatment modality for a variety of diseases, among them Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD) and various autoimmune diseases. Therefore, validated potency tests to assess immunosuppressive function of MSCs are warranted. Herein, a cellular immunoassay, the mixed lymphocyte reaction using thymidine incorporation into proliferating T lymphocytes (which cause GvHD) as a read out, will be presented in detail.
