Description
Empirical evidence has accumulated that biological systems might operate nearby critical points. Examples range from gene expression patterns, flocks of birds, and spontaneous brain activity. Despite obvious progress, the criticality hypothe sis is still in its embrionary state and its bases and applications need to be carefully addressed and discussed.
