- The muon reconstruction in ATLAS has shown excellent performance in the first run period of the LHC. The reconstruction is structured in several consecutive steps aimed at maximizing efficiency with minimal usage of resources to allow the same algorithms to be deployed online and offline. The talk will describe the various techniques used for the standalone muon reconstruction and will discuss how information of the muon system and the inner detector is combined to achieve the best momentum resolution, efficiency and decay in fight rejection.
