- Description
- Konsistente Approximation linearer Differentialoperatoren auf irregulären Stützstellen Particle methods numerically approximate the solutions of partial differential equations on zero-dimensional, connectivity-less colocation points called "particles". Due to their Lagrangian nature and a common, unifying algorithmic framework, they have a set of interesting properties. We briefly review the foundations of particle-based function and operator approximation and highlight some of the current limitations for consistency and convergence on parabolic problems. We then present a formal framework that guarantees consistency on almost all particle distributions. Furthermore, we discuss the possibility of letting the colocation points self-organize in order to treat functions with spatially varying resolution requirements.
