Description
Our ability to track spatial recapitulation, deterioration from disease and restoration through therapy in tissues at single cell resolution is now unprecedented. I will present some recent examples of our experimental and computational work on quantifying, over time, structural recapitulation in models of rare disease and lab-grown organs after transplant, as well as the assessment of spatial signatures of disease deterioration and therapy restoration in pathological tissues. These measures provide ways to understand the quality of engineered models and organs while advancing our understanding of changes brought by disease and therapy, with the ultimate goal of making the clinical use of new tissues and organs routine.
