- Description
- Mechanical interconnects can play a vital role in information transfer and transduction protocols. For that purpose, we designed a waveguide that combines principles of mechanical engineering, condensed matter physics and topology. We show that wave propagation losses in these devices can be as low as ~ 3 dB/km. We also demonstrate that only 0.01% of phonons propagating along the waveguide are scattered at sharp corners. Finally, we discuss adjacent developments related to observation of strong mechanical nonlinearities in membranes and a fast imaging protocol for obtaining resonant mode profiles.
