- Description
- We present a quantum treatment for magnetic skyrmions in two-dimensional itinerant magnets. The Kondo-type exchange between local quantum spin-1/2 and non-interacting itinerant electrons is approximated in the mean-field level, which decouples the spin and electron degrees of freedom. Correspondingly, different methods are implemented for the local spins, the isolated electrons, and the electrons connected to electric leads. We show that the itinerant electrons are essential to the ground state profiles, as well as the dynamical properties of the quantum spin textures. We extend a recently proposed exchange-correlation field formalism to spin Hamiltonians and impurity problems. We apply the formalism to a spin-1/2 chain with Heisenberg interactions and the single-impurity Anderson model. Comparisons with numerical benchmarks show that our approach yields one-particle spectral functions with favorable accuracy at a relatively low computational cost. .
