- Description
- The objective of this presentation is to introduce implantable thermoelectric generators (ITEGs) for use in electrically active implants. The optimization of the ITEG is achieved through model-based simulation, ensuring maximum power and sufficient voltage for implantation scenarios. Novel mathematical method of parametric model order reduction (pMOR) is implemented to ensure an efficient design optimization process. An assembly approach is presented for fabricating ITEGs with high-aspect-ratio thermocouples. Furthermore, a compact ITEG with an integrated boost converter is developed to provide voltage levels suitable for powering electronic systems. The applicability of the ITEGs is virtually tested via simulation of a TEG embedded into human cranial bone.
