- Description
- IFW Dresden and its scientists and technicians are bound to the rules of good scientific practise (GSP) as defined by the German Science Foundation and the Leibniz Society. Elected Ombudspersons support the compliance with these rules, mediate in cases of conflict and treat suspicions of scientific misconduct. They protect both whistleblowers and accused persons and keep them anonymous as long as appropriate for the matter. We will briefly introduce ourselves, will explain our tasks and essential points of GSP. Next, we will define the relation between GSP, bad scientific practice, and scientific misconduct and will mention essential points of the latter. Finally, we will address the limitations of our capabilities as Ombudsmen in view of the framework of the present German science system. We will hint to accumulation and abuse of power and to related recent developments.
