- Description
- The talk presents our high-end scientific grade fluorescence spectrometer for steady state and time-resolved measurements. The first part of the talk gives an introduction into TCSPC (Time Correlated Single Photo Counting) principles of measurement and explains the “pile up” effect. Secondly, the hardware components of this highly modular fluorescence spectrometer (i.e. light sources, sample holders, monochromators and detectors) are discussed. The integrating sphere is explained in the context of absolute luminescence quantum yield measurements. Further, the data acquisition and analysis software (EasyTau2) is presented; a special insight into the re-convolution principle, which utilizes a separately measured IRF (Instrument Response Function), is given. The last part of the talk shows two examples of measurement: rotational Brownian motion of molecules in liquid phase (Anisotropy) and charge carrier lifetime in semiconductors using TRES (Time Resolved Emission Spectrum).
