- Description
- Knotted fields are physical fields containing knotted structures --- structures which then talk to the field as a whole. Examples abound, and in this talk I will describe two from soft matter physics: knotted vortices in excitable media and disclination loops in active nematics. As well as their dynamics, I will describe a method of constructing these textures theoretically, using Maxwell's solid angle function.
