- Description
- This talk reviews the supersymmetric field-theoretic technique for disordered non-interacting systems. It will be shown that the averaging of disorder results in a non-linear sigma model of supermatrix fields in the saddle point approximation. The supersymmetric field theory then allows a straightforward computation of physical effects (i.e. diffusion poles) that would require, in standard perturbation theory, tedious analysis of diagrams to all orders, as well as other results that are not obtained in perturbation theory. If time allows, the conceptual idea behind applying supersymmetry technique to derive Random Matrix Theory can also be briefly discussed. The talk will be mainly based on Sec 3.1 and 3.3 of the paper 'K.B. Efetov (1983) Supersymmetry and theory of disordered metals, Advances in Physics, 32:1, 53-127, DOI: 10.1080/00018738300101531'
