 s aims at Master's and PhD students in mathematics and offers a first glim
 pse into topics which are not routinely taught in our MSc/PhD programme. T
 he emphasis is to introduce new concepts and techniques\, and not to prese
 nt full mathematical details.    The aim of this graduate lecture is to gi
 ve an overview on the classical theory and recent developments in Stochast
 ic Partial Differential Equations (SPDEs). We will focus on some important
  examples that illustrate the similarities and differences to the existenc
 e theory for PDEs\, and  discuss the influence of noise on the long time b
 ehavior of the solutions. Time permitting\, we will illustrate in simple w
 ords the breakthrough of 2014‘s Fields Medaillist Martin Hairer.
