- Description
- This series of lectures aims at Master's and PhD students in mathematics and offers a first glimpse into topics which are not routinely taught in our MSc/PhD programme. The emphasis is to introduce new concepts and techniques, and not to present full mathematical details. The aim of this graduate lecture is to give an overview on the classical theory and recent developments in Stochastic Partial Differential Equations (SPDEs). We will focus on some important examples that illustrate the similarities and differences to the existence theory for PDEs, and discuss the influence of noise on the long time behavior of the solutions. Time permitting, we will illustrate in simple words the breakthrough of 2014‘s Fields Medaillist Martin Hairer.
