- Description
- In this talk, we introduce topological phases out of equilibrium from a quantum quench setup. A classification of the topology of the quench dynamics is given by homotopy groups. We show a relation between the topological invariant of a post-quench order parameter and the topological invariant of a static Hamiltonian. The existence of the mid-gap states in the entanglement spectrum reveals the topological nature of the post-quench states. When a trivial state is under a quench to a Chern insulator, the mid-gap states in the entanglement spectrum form rings, which are analogous to the boundary Fermi rings in the Hopf insulators. Finally, we demonstrate a post-quench state in 3+1 dimensions can be characterized by the second Chern number which is a realization of the 4-dimensional quantum Hall effect. .
