ion: A core-face network\, including posterior occipitotemporal regions an
d the anterior temporal lobe face area (aTL-FA)\, are argued to support fa
miliar face-identity processing. The aTL-FA may symbolise the pinnacle of
this network\, however\, the precise nature of identity processing in the
aTL-FA remains unclear\, owing to poor imaging of this region. In this stu
dy\, we plan to examine face-identity processing throughout the core-face
network using a systematic behavioral battery\, fMRI\, and DWI\, in neurot
ypicals and developmental prosopagnosics (DP): individuals with a lifelong
deficit in recognising the identity of an individual from the face alone.
We predict that the core-face network may function in a hierarchical fas
hion to support normal identity processing and that DP may be associated w
ith deficits in posterior core-face regions\, as well as a disconnection d
 eficit to the aTL-FA.
