Gender & Diversity in Physics: The role of Workplace Cultures and Knowledge Making Practices
In the last decades, the awareness that the underrepresentation of women in physics is a problem has grown constantly. But also other categories of diversity and their impact on a successful career in physics get more and more attention. In the talk, research on gender and diversity in physics will be presented with a special focus on the role that workplace cultures play for the career-success of minorities in physics. Moreover, it will be discussed inasmuch these workplace culture are entangled with knowledge making practices, i.e. the physical research practices.
