- Description
- Nodal line semimetals are the new members of topological semimetallic phases, additional to Weyl semimetals . They have richer structures which can form networks, carry additional textures, and even create links and knots. In this talk, I will focus on two cases of nodal line semimetals. In the first case, two-fold degenerate gapless points form linked rings are introduced. We show the Gauss-linking number can be computed from the Chern-Simons 3-form from a concrete two-band model with two linked nodal lines. In addition, we show Landau level spectrum can provide a way of detecting the linked nodal lines. In the second case, we demonstrate there are three types of nodal rings based on their energy dispersion. Carbon networks provide a realization of these three types of nodal rings. The diverse of electron-hole pocket patterns and Landau levels in these three types of nodal rings can give rise to exotic transport properties.
