 ole in the measurement of the strong coupling constant at the LHC experime
 nt. Their theoretical predictions by conventional fixed-order calculations
  can be unreliable due to soft or collinear gluons.  In my talk I explain 
 the basic concepts of QCD resummation of event shape variables that offer 
 a better prediction in this soft and colliner phase space region. I would 
 like to present current results of my Master thesis concerning the compari
 son of different matching schemes between resummed and fixed-order distrib
 utions.
