SUMMARY:Tabler: Constructing connective tissues across scales
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Jacqueline Tabler\nInstitute of Speaker: Max Planck In
stitute of Cell Biology and Genetics\nTopics:\n\n Location:\n Name: MPI-C

 y: 01307 Dresden\n Phone: +49 351 210-0\n Fax: +49 351 210-2000\nDescrip
tion: Mesenchymal tissues construct the physical architecture of the devel
oping skull through dynamic interactions between cells and extracellular m
atrix. Our work investigates how extracellular matrix organization and mec
hanics regulate mesenchymal cell fate decisions during cranial morphogenes
is\, and how disruption of these processes may contribute to connective ti
ssue pathology. Using embryonic perturbation models\, quantitative tissue
imaging\, and single-cell approaches\, we show that altered matrix crossli
nking changes the tempo and spatial organization of connective tissue spec
ialization within the developing skull cap. These findings suggest that co
nnective tissue disease may emerge not only from defects in structural mol
ecules themselves\, but from altered developmental states that reshape how
cells interpret and build their extracellular environments across scales.
