aculty of Medicine at TU Dresden is launching a new series of events entit
led “TUneD into Medical Science”. The aim is to invite renowned medica
l prizewinners to the Faculty for an intensive scientific exchange. The ev
ents offer insights into current research topics as well as the opportunit
y for scientists and young researchers to discuss their own topics and gai
n valuable inspiration. The series will be kicked off by Nobel Prize Laure
ate Prof. Thomas C. Südhof\, German-American biochemist and neuroscientis
t. His research focuses on synapses as fundamental switching points of the
nervous system. Together with his colleagues Randy W. Schekman and James
E. Rothman\, Südhof was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine
in 2013 for his discoveries of transport processes in cells.
                   From October 9th – 11th\, 2024 there
will be numerous opportunities to get to know him and his work better and
to exchange ideas with him.

On October 9th\, students and young s
cientists will have the unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into
the research process – from the initial idea to publication –<
/strong> in the lecture hall of the Center for Regenerative Therapies (CRT
D). Students will present three scientific papers from different decades o
f Nobel Prize Laureate Prof. Thomas Südhof’s research activities and di
scuss with him how innovative research can be turned into a successful pub
lication. During the discussion\, you will also have the opportunity to as
k your own questions and be inspired by the experiences of a Nobel Prize L
aureate. The event thus offers an ideal platform for anyone who would like
to delve deeper into the world of research and publication.

We look forward to your participation and an exciting discuss
ion! The e
vent “From research to successful publication” will t
ake place in English on Wednesday\, October 9th\, 2024 from 10 a.m
. in the lecture hall of the Center for Regenerative Therapies at
  TU Dresden (CRTD).

Under the heading “Next Generation: Speed talks with young scienti
sts”\, four young scientists will present their current research results
in the field of neuroscience in exciting power pitches. The presentations
will be followed by a discussion with Prof. Südhof\, who will provide fe
edback on the research topics presented from his scientific perspective. Y
ou are cordially invited to actively participate in the discussion. Take t
he opportunity to give the young scientists your feedback on the research
topics presented and to discuss open questions with one of the leading neu
roscientists of our time and take away valuable impulses.

                             The event “Next G
eneration: Speed talks with young scientists” will take place in English
  on Wednesday\, October 9th\, 2024 from 2 p.m. in the lec
ture hall of the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Geneti
