- Beschreibung
- Odors are either pleasant or unpleasant. The neuronal correlates for these percepts are still unclear. Aim of this study is to investigate the response to pleasant odors with various degrees of associations to well-being using an FMRI paradigm. A total of 40 young, healthy volunteers will participate. Odors will be selected so that 2 of them are strongly associated with well-being, and 2 others are not that strongly associated with well-being. All odors will be of the same intensity and pleasantness. All tasks will be passive – 4 different odors will be delivered within a block design (blocks of 8 sec ON, 12 seconds OFF, over periods of 4 min each). It is hypothesized that responses to odors differ at the level of the amygdala and the orbitofrontal cortex.
