- Software and computer literacy as well as teaching those has become extremely vital in today's research communities - especially for academic groups that convey their findings through software packages or scripts aside to traditional peer-reviewed articles. The carpentries (https://carpentries.org/) have come to be a well known international hub to share and foster knowledge on training novices in task automation, data science, good coding practices and much much more. On top, the methods to teach used within carpentry lessons are based on modern empirically proven teaching principles. This meeting will try to introduce you to the carpentries, their methods and courses as well as a way forward how you can become a certified carpentry instructor and a member of this thriving community.
