 tion: A little over ten years ago\, relativistic-like particles made a gra
 nd entrance into the condensed matter physics arena\, when they were obser
 ved in topological insulators. Soon thereafter\, it became clear that topo
 logical states of matter were surprisingly widespread. This talk will focu
 s on two examples of 3D systems whose energy dispersion is linear in momen
 tum: cadmium arsenide (Cd3As2)\, and zirconium pentatelluride (ZrTe5). Mag
 neto-optical spectroscopy allows us to uncover the Landau levels and helps
  decipher the band structure. Our main task is to understand the low energ
 y behavior of systems with small carrier densities\, small effective masse
 s\, and small or vanishing band gaps\, whose properties are in some condit
 ions predicted to be topologically nontrivial.
