Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles whose shape-shifting properties are thought to modulate metabolism and survival in response to specific cellular cues. Our lab has been working to understand the mechanistic underpinnings of mitochondrial membrane dynamics, and interrogate the functional implications of these processes within multiple paradigms including cell death, response to pathogens, and in the regulation of metabolic plasticity. This seminar will focus on the general progress over the last few years with a discussion of the open questions and challenges that remain.
