  physics is a problem has grown constantly. But also other categories of d
 iversity and their impact on a successful career in physics get more and m
 ore attention. In the talk\, research on gender and diversity in physics w
 ill be presented with a special focus on the role that workplace cultures 
 play for the career-success of minorities in physics. Moreover\, it will b
 e discussed inasmuch these workplace culture are entangled with knowledge 
 making practices\, i.e. the physical research practices. </p>
