SUMMARY:Pudell: Exploiting Redundant Number Systems in Adaptive and Dependa

one: \n Fax: \nDescription: Nowadays\, in digital arithmetic the almost o
nly known approach of processing numbers is digit-parallel\, but there are
several reasons to favor the digit-serial solution. That is why this stud
ent thesis will take a closer look at the so called online arithmetic and
the meaning of redundant number systems. The objective of this thesis is t
o design and implement a radix-generic online adding unit\, which is able
to realize arbitrary precision at runtime. Thereby special attention is gi
ven to the impact on consumption of resources and performance. It turned o
ut that when using digit-serial arithmetic instead of the digit-parallel a
pproach the number of interconnections between modules can be considerably
reduced. Thus the used area on the chip and energy dissipation are reduce
d as well. This makes the approach used a win compared to the current stat
e of the art and can be used as a starting point for further research. Die
se Veranstaltung wird unterstützt von Professur Prozessordesign.
