o detector is placed in the underground Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sass
o in central Italy. After several years of work\, it has reached unprecede
nted levels of radio-purity. This brought a real breakthrough in the real-
time neutrino detection and in the liquid scintillator technique in genera
 l. For the first time\, the spectroscopic measurements of solar neutrino s
pecies at sub-MeV energies became possible. Geoneutrinos\, antineutrinos f
rom the decays of long-lived radioactive elements inside the Earth\, have
been detected. Limits on several rare processes have been set. The size of
the scintillator target (sphere with 8.5 m diameter) and its radio-purity
\, make it an ideal tool for the search of sterile neutrinos with artifici
al sources (SOX project). The colloquium will bring a review about the sta
tus\, results\, and future prospective of neutrino physics performed with
 this unique detector.
